What to see and do
Setúbal Muscatel
Moscatel de Setúbal is the emblematic wine of the Setúbal Peninsula Wine Region and one of the treasures of Portuguese wines. These wines are always matured for a minimum of approximately two years. They are characterised by being fresh and elegant wines. With their unique characteristics, Setúbal fortified wines are eternally voluptuous, of enormous sensitivity and pleasure, marvellous in their always difficult harmony between sugar, alcohol and freshness.
Beaches
Setúbal's beaches, hand in hand with the Arrábida Natural Park, are one of the main attractions the municipality offers visitors. Sponsored by the green mantle of the Arrábida mountain range, which lends its refreshing shade to its sands.
Dolphins - The Sado Dolphins
On the coastline of the Setúbal region you can see specimens of the bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), considered one of the region's faunal ex-libris. The area between the Atlantic Coast (Galé and Arrábida) and the Sado Estuary is inhabited by one of only three communities of these mammals resident in the European maritime space.
Tróia
This paradisiacal location allows you to enjoy white sandy beaches and crystal-clear, mild water. With a privileged location between the Atlantic Ocean and the Sado Estuary, in Tróia you can enjoy the view over the extraordinary Arrábida Natural Park.
How to get to the hotel
Bus
The Rede Expressos, Carris Metropolitana service runs between Lisbon and Setúbal. This service departs from Sete Rios station and Gare do Oriente.
Rent-a-Car
You can hire a car at the arrivals area of the airport through car hire companies. Another option is to book in advance.
Train
The average taxi fare from the airport is around 60.00€. The amount charged does not depend on the number of passengers occupying the vehicle. If the luggage exceeds 55x35x20cm, it must be transported in the boot or on the roof. In this case, an extra charge may apply. Wheelchairs, cots and pushchairs can be transported free of charge. No gratuity is required.
By Plane
From Humberto Delgado Airport (Lisbon) to Meliá Setúbal is about 48 kilometres, and the journey along the E1 and A12 takes about 50 minutes. Take the E1 / Avenida Cidade do Porto / Segunda Circular: towards: A1- North / A12- South / Vasco da Gama Bridge Take the IC17: direction A12- South / Vasco da Gama Bridge Take the A12 / IP1 / E90: towards: Setúbal (take the exit: N10/ Avenida Antero de Quental and turn left: Avenida da Europa (cross Setúbal). Follow the N10 / Estrada Cisprestes: turn right onto Rua De Almeida Garrett and finally turn left onto Avenida Alexandre Herculano.
